Decree-Law no (2) of 1995 on Wildlife Conservation and its implementation edicts were issued for the aim of protecting the environment and maintaining natural balance, combating all forms of pollution, avoiding short and long term negative effects which may result from the implementation of plans and programs for economic or industrial development, physical or other developmental programs that are aimed at improving the standard of living, through:

  • Controlling activities and practices related to environmental protection.
  • Conducting the required studies to protect the environment while planning a project, and expressing opinions about the environmental effects of these projects prior to their approval by the competent authorities.
  • Determining the problems caused by environmental pollution and degradation, and involving the relevant bodies in studying these problems, as well as proposing appropriate solutions and following up on their implementation.
  • Protecting the community, human health and other living creatures against all environmentally harmful activities.
