Overview

The Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE) seeks to protect the environment against the negative effect that may result from development projects, whether industrial or service ones. As many industrial projects may harm the environment at the short or long term, the SCE is keen on compelling those who launch development projects to be committed to the environmental standards and the requirements that should be provided.

For this purpose, the Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE) urges owners of major projects to conduct Environmental impact assessment (EIA) studies. An EIA is a scientific study that ensures reducing environmental risk and impacts resulting from the implementation of development projects, and takes into account the environmental conditions and standards that must be provided when launching major development projects. It also seeks to provide the needed capital, rationalize of expenditures and spare investors unexpected costs for that may arise later due to their harmful aspects to the environment.
